The tourism sectors are among those most affected by the crisis that we are going through
Rudi Vervoort, Brussels minister-president
1. Praising Brussels culture
In order to relaunch Brussels as a destination, several communication campaigns will be launched to set the EU’s capital as the main European hub for hybrid meetings. A new campaign will also be organized with Belgian and foreign influencers to promote cultural places and events in Brussels.
Advertising space will also be made available to partners via a call for projects. In total, these communication actions will reach a budget of nearly 1.75 million euros.
2. Gastronomy and culture at the spotlight
In order to optimize the experience of both locals and visitors, open air events in public space during the summer, gastronomy, art and culture in public space will be promoted.
As for gastronomy, the flagship measure consists on the establishment of 100,000 gift vouchers worth 40 euros for international and Belgian tourists. Visitors will be able to download these vouchers and use them with a series of tourist and cultural partners such as tourist attractions, museums, guided tour associations or even events taking place in Brussels. 4 million euros is the estimated cost of this tool.
3. 1 million euros to support the travel and tourism industry
Two funds will be launched to support the revival of the sector: a financial support fund for the development of a “sustainable and inclusive tourist offer” as well as a support fund for “investment in digital solutions” for a total of 1 million euros.
The plan also aims to boost a digital transformation of this sector aiming to transform Brussels a sustainable destination model.
Finally, throughout 2021 Visit Brussels will also provide training courses for all its partners.
