2020 was surely a difficult year. The Covid-19 pandemic that hit the world over the past few years caused the death of many people. To avoid the spread of the virus and save lives, many countries decided to implement lockdowns. This meant that people needed to stay home and couldn’t go outside, except if it was really necessary, such as to buy food or to go to work.
Duration and time of the lockdowns were different depending on the countries. In Belgium, the strictest lockdown begun on the 17th of March and lasted until the 5th of April. During this period, all business centers, shopping centers, schools, cafés, hotels, and restaurants were closed. All tourist attractions in Brussels were empty.
The atmosphere in the city was very strange and really stressful. Nobody could believe that this kind of situation would ever happen… But yes, it really happened!
During that period, I had the opportunity to walk through the city of Brussels when going to work and I took some pictures that I want to share with you, just to remember this difficult time.
