No flights will depart from Brussels Airport today, June 20, due to a national strike.
Yesterday, the airport was expecting waiting times up to 8 hours at the security screening due to the manifestation, and was asking passengers to avoid coming to the airport and to postpone their flight. Now, Belgium’s biggest airport has decided to cancel all departing flights and urges passengers not to come to the airport.
Arriving and cargo flights will still be operated.
The cancellation of all flights was necessary due to the national manifestation and strike of the majority of the G4S security staff. The strike was announced by the airport’s G4S security staff just a few days ago, in protest against the high pressure of work they endure at the airport, among other issues.
Passengers should expect long waiting times on Tuesday, June 21, due to canceled flights on Monday. More information can be found on the website of Brussels Airport.
