Brussels Airlines and Tomorrowland have presented “Amare”, a new livery for the Airbus A320neo. The launch is a world premiere as it is the first ever aircraft livery to be equipped with augmented reality. During the presentation, held at Brussels Airlines’ Maintenance & Engineering hangar, both companies also announced several new initiatives aimed at reducing their environmental footprint.
Both Brussels Airlines and Tomorrowland were born and raised in Belgium. With the airline wanting to accentuate its so-called ‘Belgitude’, the reinforced collaboration with the now world-renown music festival Tomorrowland doesn’t come as a surprise.
“Brussels Airlines has been a proud partner of Tomorrowland since 2012 and I am happy to announce that we will extend this partnership until 2028. We have many things in common such as the passion to explore the world and connecting cultures, but also the awareness of our environmental footprint and our willingness to take the necessary steps to reduce our impact. These shared values make this partnership such a success”, Dorothea von Boxberg, Brussels Airlines CEO, explained during the event.

The new A320neo was already launched in December 2023 but only now has it been equipped with a made-to-measure livery, the world’s first using augmented reality. The design process took around 15 months and allows for the magical creature Amare, which symbolises “unity and transcending time and space”, to come to life when scanned through specific social media channels. Once inside the cabin, the Tomorrowland experience continues thanks to an impressive sound system and special mood lighting.

With the launch of the aircraft, Brussels Airlines and Tomorrowland are trying to improve their environmental footprint – just last year, it was shown that Tomorrowland is responsible for the emission of 150.000 tonnes of CO2 per year. The A320neo emits up to 20% less CO2 and up to 50% less noise than its predecessors. Moreover, the special Global Journey Packages Brussels Airlines and Tomorrowland sell together will hence forward all be Green Fares.

Those packages compensate the flight emissions with Sustainable Aviation Fuel (20%) and thanks to the investment into qualitative CO2-reducing programmes (80%). Both companies also signed an agreement to invest in the purchase of SAF to compensate the total carbon emissions of all party flights that will be operated.
Amare will not only bring the festivalgoers to Tomorrowland but is operating commercial flights since 26 April 2024.
