InterContinental Singapore is offering a “Rain Resist Bliss Package”, which reimburses guests if one of their planned activities is disrupted by heavy rainfall.
With an average of 171 rainy days per year in Singapore, the package comes across as an interesting deal. Therefore, it doesn’t come as a surprise that the hotel has attached a couple of limitations to the package. The deal only applies if the “rain duration exceeds 120 cumulative minutes within any 4-hour block of time during daylight hours”. Moreover, it only applies for those staying at a Junior Suite, One-Bedroom Suite, Royal Suite, Ambassador Suite or Presidential Suite – which have a starting price of around 633 dollars (580 euros) per room per night.
The refund comes in the form of a voucher, which is realeased within seven working days after the weather data is published by the National Environment Agency of Singapore and has to be spent at the InterContinental Singapore within six months from the date issue. The voucher is valued at a one-night room rate. Coverage starts from 3 pm on the day of check-in until 12 pm on the day of check-out.
“I was chatting with a group of friends about what’s next in luxury travel, and one of them jokingly commented that being able to guarantee good weather would be the next level of ultimate luxury travel”, Andreas Kraemer, the hotel’s manager, told CNN Travel. “We decided to offer a first-of-its-kind ‘Rain Resist Bliss’ package so guests can confidently book a stay any time of year and make the most of all that The Lion City has to offer, rain or shine.”
According to the hotel, the “Rain Resist Bliss” will be available for a limited time only, even though the exact duration of the offer hasn’t been specified.
