The legend of the RMS Titanic, the ‘unsinkable’ passenger ship that sank in the Atlantic early one morning in April 1912, is destined to outlive the wreckage. The latest news linked to this ocean liner comes from China. In Daying County, Sichuan Province, an exact replica destined to be the centerpiece of a theme park called Romandisea is being built.
I hope this ship will be here in 100 or 200 years. We are building a museum for the Titanic

The Romandisea Titanic project first appeared in the media in October 2013; in 2016 the first piece was put in place. After several delays (the inauguration was said to be in 2019), it now seems that the construction process is closer to the end
The Chinese Titanic is, like its British namesake, 269 meters long and 28 meters wide. It has been promoted as an identical copy, with the same comforts, with the steam engine in operation. Of course, it will never sail: it will be moored in a river. And it will be the star of the theme park, where you can spend the night for 2,000 yuan (about 250 euros).
Behind this idea is the Chinese investor Su Shaojun, apparently an admirer of the history of the ship and the film shot by James Cameron in 1997, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. Hence his interest in financing a life-size replica, a museum for his memory.
This tourist volume should guarantee the return of our investment. The greatest significance of building this ship is to carry forward and inherit the great spirit of Titanic
Su Shaojun, Investor
The final bill of the company will have these figures: 23,000 tons of steel and about 130 million euros. For the time being, there is still no date for opening to the public.
This ship is not the only replica of the Titanic. The Australian company Blue Star Line also put forward the proposal of an identical cruise ship that would make its maiden voyage in 2022. However, the last press release posted by the company on its website dates back to December 17, 2018.
