Travel company Vacaya in Argentina has announced that the first-ever LGBT+ cruise will navigate to Antarctica in December of 2022. The ship is the Ponant Le Boréal and it will be a ten-night cruise where guests will be able to enjoy a one-night stay in Buenos Aires before departing for Argentina’s southernmost city: Ushuaia.
Some of the amenities that Vacaya is offering to its guests guests include the opportunity to participate in lectures led by Antarctic Expedition Experts. They will cover a wide range of relevant topics related to the least inhabited continent on Earth: its ecology, geology and fantastic geography.
According to Travel Pulse, Argentina has some of the most progressive LGBT+ laws in the world. Same-sex marriage with full adoption rights was legalized in 2010, and in 2012 the country passed the Gender Equality Law, which protects the rights of transgender individuals.
The country has also worked to promote LGBT+ tourism through its National Tourism Promotion Institute, or INPROTUR, as well as with the Argentine LGBT Chamber of Commerce (CCGLAR).
