MSC Cruises has announced the introduction of a theme park aboard its newest ship. Known as “The Harbour,” the attraction will provide “tailored family entertainment activities and facilities for guests of all ages,” Steve Leatham, the company’s vice president of entertainment, said.
Part of the Family Aventura District, a kids-friendly play hub, the amusement will appear on the MSC World Asia and include an over-water swing dubbed “the Cliffhanger” for the way it suspends guests above the ocean waves in what is set to be a first for European cruising.

The theme park will also feature an adventure trail rope course, obstacle challenge, waterslides, a playground, social spaces, and what MSC describes as the longest dry slide at sea. The ClubHouse and Doremiland will help to form a total of 929m2 in space dedicated to kids. Bumper cars, a LEGO Family Zone, and roller skating will also be found here. It is all set to join the MSC Luna Park Arena, an area where interactive game shows will deploy the latest in digital technology to entertain cruise passengers. And when the sun has gone down, the fun will continue as the space will transform into a nocturnal theme park with extended evening programs.
Leatham emphasised the world’s third-largest cruise line’s credentials in creating entertainment for all its guests. “As a family-owned company, MSC Cruises knows what it takes to keep the whole family happy on holiday,” he said. The initiative will allow the company to “reach new heights — bigger, bolder and more innovative than ever,” the VP claimed.

It is part of a strategy designed to appeal to travel consumers who are increasingly immersed in tech, yet increasingly seeking experiential, outdoors activities and adventure sports. It also helps to lock travellers into the MSC ecosystem with a complete “floating resort” offer alongside its 300 worldwide destinations.
The MSC World Asia is currently under construction at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France. On board, every experience is being “designed to surprise, inspire and spark imagination,” Matteo Mancini, MSC Cruises’ family entertainment development director, said in a press release. “We’ve pushed creativity to new limits, and we’re confident guests will leave genuinely amazed.”
MSC World Asia will set sail for the first time in December 2026, heading for a series of seven-night Mediterranean itineraries, with calls at Barcelona, Marseille, Messina, Civitavecchia (Rome), Naples, and Valletta, the cruise line said.
