Even though yoga has been around for thousands of years, it only recently reached its full potential. More and more people are starting to recognize its benefits – both mental and physical. And even though some of you still might consider the sport a pastime for hippies, you’re wrong. Yet why take our word for it if you could experience the advantages of yoga for yourself? Considering the fact that at most yoga studios, the first class is free or at least very cheap, you don’t even have to spend a lot of money on it.
Yet even though we just talked about yoga newbies, this article isn’t just for them. Those who have followed a yoga class before will know that it isn’t always easy to find one that fits your style. Maybe the form of yoga isn’t right for you, maybe you don’t connect with the teacher, maybe it’s just the schedule that doesn’t fit yours. Whatever the reason, we get it. And that’s exactly why we made a selection of five different classes which we thought to be great. So don’t hesitate to try them out and stick to the one which suits you most.
1. Yoga Room
If you’re someone who has a busy life and who moves a lot throughout the city, Yoga Room will be perfect for you. They have four yoga studios all over Brussels and one in Waterloo, so chances are, there’s always one close to you. And when you get a membership, you’ve got access to all of them. On top of that, no need to carry your mat with you so you can stop by after a meeting without having to worry about that. Oh and, if you want, it’s also possible to follow their classes online – through a very interesting online exclusive membership or by choosing a combination of both online and real-life classes. No excuse to miss you daily yoga anymore!
2. La Tricoterie
Looking for a budget-friendly option? Or one where you can have a drink with your yoga buddies afterwards? Than La Tricoterie is what you’re looking for. The classes take places every two weeks on Sunday evening, meaning you may have to look for another class on the side if you want to stick to a regular schedule. Yet it’s well worth that, considering the very relaxed atmosphere. Oh and make sure to also check out the other activities at La Tricoterie, such as their brunch or their meditation classes!
3. Yyoga
If yoga and sustainability are interconnected for you, Yyoga will be just your cup of tea. Everything in their studio is thought out to be as sustainable as possible, from the soaps they sell to the construction materials that were used to build the whole thing. Another great thing about Yyoga is their location. On the Quai au bois à brûler, it’s very close to the city center. Perfect if you live or work there or if you simply want to catch a class before going out with friends. They offer online classes too and the first seven days are free, ideal if you want to see what their studio is all about.
4. Sampoorna Yoga Studio
Not interested in physical classes yet you still want to support your locals? Then try out Sampoorna Yoga Studio, which organizes online classes exclusively. Following your yoga class from your own living room means you’re more flexible and you pay less, which can be a quite a big deal if you don’t have a lot to spend. Yet if you’re really excited about their classes, it’s also possible to book a yoga session for your office or even your kid’s school – so don’t hesitate to ask!
5. La Vallée Yoga & Pilates
If you can’t choose between yoga and pilates – both great for different reasons and different parts of your body – then go to La Vallée, which offers both within a single membership. Their schedule is very extensive and there are a lot of teachers to choose from, so there’s something and someone for everyone. On top of that, you can also follow the classes online if you’d prefer. Oh and a very cool plus to La Vallée is their Aerial Yoga – just give it a chance!
