Bryan Johnson, a middle-aged tech mogul, is working with a team of 30 doctors and health experts to reduce his biological age back to 18.
Since he started rebooting his body, the ultra wealthy, former software entrepreneur has achieved a reversal of age by as many as five years. Bloomberg reported that Bryan has the heart of a 37-year-old, the skin of a 28-year-old, and the lung capacity and fitness of an 18 year old person.
What I do may sound extreme, but I’m trying to prove that self-harm and decay are not inevitable.

1. How did Johnson’s dedication to health start?
About a decade ago, Johnson founded a successful payment processing company. But running this company made him stressed, overweight, and depressed. In 2013, he decided to sell the company to eBay and started dedicating himself to his health and body.
His new passion led to the creation of Kernel, a company that measures brain activity through helmets which aims at “building the world’s most valuable brain data models.”
Then, Johnson teamed up with Oliver Zolman, a medical graduate from King’s College London, to find ways to reduce his biological age.
2. Johnson’s Project
Zolman and his team of 30 doctors are currently running several experiments on Johnson’s body, including modifying his diet and physical activity. The team is more than a year into the experiment phase, which they collectively call Project Blueprint.
Johnson wakes up every day at 5 am. First thing in the morning, he ingests supplements and medicines, including lycopene, zinc, and metformin, and a microdose of lithium for his brain.
He exercises for an hour a day, with three high-intensity sessions per week, and consumes exactly 1,977 calories of vegan food per day.
Two hours prior to going to sleep, he wears glasses that block blue light.
In order to improve the process, Johnson monitors his vital signs on a daily basis, including blood glucose, heart-rate variations, and oxygen levels. He also measures his weight, body mass index, and body fat daily.
His monthly routine includes dozens of medical procedures, such as blood and urine tests, MRI scans, ultrasounds, and colonoscopies.
I treat athletes and Hollywood celebrities, and no one is pushing the envelope as much as Bryan.

Besides the diet and exercises, Johnson also receives fat injections in his face to generate a scaffolding of a young person’s fat cells. The injections not only provide a younger look, but they also help the body produce lesser toxic substances.
3. Johnson’s body today
According to the doctors, all the work has started to pay off: Johnson’s body is getting medically younger.
His body fat ranges between 5% and 6%, which leaves his muscles and veins on full display.
Additionally, tests show that his biological age has been reduced by five years. He has the heart of a 37-year-old, and his skin is that of a 28-year-old. His lung capacity and fitness levels are comparable to the ones of an 18-year-old.
All of the markers we are tracking have been improving remarkably.

However, Johnson wants to achieve more. He is planning to keep running his project until he reaches an overall age of an 18-year-old across all organs.
Zolman pointed out that his work with Johnson is just in the initial phase and that he and his team still have hundreds of procedures left to explore, including a series of experimental gene therapies.
