Visiting a city on a Monday can be quite the tricky experience. Whereas before, Sundays often used to be the days during which there was the least to see or do, now, things have shifted. Because tourists are often visiting during the weekend, a lot of shops, restaurants and museums are open all throughout Saturday and Sunday. On Monday, however, they rest. And even though we’re not against people enjoying a well-deserved break, we still want to be able to enjoy a trip, even if it turns out we’re there on a very quiet Monday.
Whether you’re visiting a destination as a tourist or working from there each and every day, one still has to eat. Unless you’ve planned ahead and you’ve packed your own lunch, you’ll have to go out there in the wild and search for something yummy to fill your belly. But we certainly aren’t the only ones to have searched high and low for something – anything really – on a Monday noon or evening. After having tried ten different restaurants, you almost want to give up and accept the fact that today you’ll just have to remain hungry. Almost, because well, eating is just too fun.
Brussels Kitchen
Luckily, some of us don’t just complain about things like that. They locate the problem, come up with a solution and put that solution into practice. Chloé Rosse, the woman behind the very popular blog Brussels Kitchen, was clearly confronted with the same problem as we. Being a specialist in everything culinary, however, she decided to make our lives a little easier and put together a list with no less than 34 of the best restaurants within Brussels, all open on Mondays. That’s what we call a lifesaver.
She shared the list on Instagram, making sure we can all save it to our favourites and pull it out when we’re in need (read: hungry). Of course, we’ve gone through the list ourselves and, let us tell you, it’s very good. Actually, we don’t recommend that you read it unless you don’t mind thinking about food for the rest of the day. And as we all have our favourite addresses, let us share with you our own little preferred selection.
1. Menma, for the most delicious ramen in the capital.
2. La Meute, for burgers that’ll make you crave for them again instantly.
3. La Bottega della Pizza, for pizzas that have been named the best in the country more than once.
