Dating is something most of us get to experience at least once in our lives. When you’re single and ready to mingle, you don’t have much of a choice to be honest if you want to get to meet a potential romantic partner. How you make the first contact all depends on your tactics – maybe you’re old school and go to a speed dating event, maybe you get yourself out there on a dating app – but at some point, you’ll have to take them out on a date. After all, there’s nothing like a good old tête-à-tête to get to know one another.
But where do you go for that first date? Are you just grabbing a drink at a local bar? Are you going ice skating? Are you taking a walk in the park? Are you going for something completely different? The pandemic sure has made us more creative in the dating game: when all’s closed you have to find a different activity for that first encounter. Yet, not all cities are created equally when it comes to dating. Some are clearly better equipped than others.
Dating criteria
To establish once and for all which cities are best for dating, insurance company CIA Landlords dived into the numbers. They looked at a wide range of cities across the world and took all possible dating venues into account. How many romantic restaurants are there? How many bars? Mini golf courts? And much more. Street safety was also considered as after all, you want to feel like you’re safe when you’re strolling around with who might well be your soulmate.
After analyzing everything, they came to a top 10 which is kind of interesting. As you’ll see, most cities on the list aren’t the world’s biggest nor the most famous. Except for a few, they’re pretty under-the-radar destinations. Take the number one for example: Bern, capital of Switzerland and the country’s fifth biggest city. Not a destination most of us would consider and not one that sounds very romantic, but apparently, looks can be deceiving. So if you’re living in one of the below-mentioned cities, you’re in luck and we predict your love life will go pretty smoothly.
