It’s that part of the year where we’ve not yet reached the December holidays season, but it is certainly feeling wintery and dark in many parts of Europe. We begin to crave warmer weather and miss the feel of the sun on our faces. So where can sun seekers go? Here are some ideal destinations for a couple of weeks of soaking up some much needed vitamin D.
1. Adelaide, South Australia
With an average November temperature of 23℃, Adelaide and the surrounding areas of South Australia have plenty to offer the sun seeker. For an urban adventure there is of course Adelaide city itself with plenty of things to see and do, or if you fancy a slower paced holiday then try visiting some of the many vineyards in the area for a bit of wine tasting. With options such as Clare Valleys, Coonawarra, McLaren Vale and Adelaide Hills there is plenty to choose from. You can decide your pace here, but whichever you choose it will be warm and sunny.
2. Colombo coastline, Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka has nearly 1600 km of of palm fringed Coastline, making it the ideal destination for a gorgeous beach holiday, whether thats lazing on the sand or doing one of the windsurfing, kayaking, yachting, water skiing and scuba diving activities on offer. It has a lovely average temperature of 27℃, and the north east winds make the south western coast sunny and the sea calm from November to March, ideal!
3. Off-shore islands, Cambodia
Although Cambodia has a reputation for a more active holidays involving temple-hopping and history-orientated tours, it also has a beautiful coastline where you can find quiet and calm beaches, not to mention stunning islands. The coastline and off-shore islands between Preah Sihanouk and Ream National Park are ideal for a lazy beach holiday, and with an average temperature of 30℃ in November, you can lie back, gazing out as the sun sets over its beautiful waters.
4. Palm Springs, U.S.A.
Known for hosting Coachella, Palm Springs is in fact a laid-back desert destination when it’s not filled with festival goers. Perfect for escaping the wet and cold of winter, you can expect scorching sunshine and its mid-century modernist vibe makes it a cool place to visit. You can explore the nearby up-and-coming dusty desert towns, or get out your walking boots and hike in nearby Joshua Tree. With the average November temperature being 26℃, make sure to take plenty of water.
5. Cancún, Mexico
Known worldwide for its spectacular white sandy beaches and turquoise sea, Cancún is a beautiful option for a winter getaway. With a perfect average temperature of 25℃, sunny days, little rain and few crowds, November is a great time to explore Cancún’s, with its unique natural places and Mayan culture, as well as its many water and adventure activities. There are also plenty of bars and nightclubs if you fancy a holiday with some nightlife.
6. Goa, India
Set against a warm and sunny climate with an average temperature of 25℃, Goa is a combination of Indian and Portuguese cultures, due to its past as a Portuguese colony. With sun, sea, sand, seafood, and spirituality, what’s not to love? It is India’s pocket-sized paradise and a perfect place to spend a relaxing and slow-paced holiday in the sun.
7. Cape Town, South Africa
Summertime arrives in Cape Town in November so it starts hotting up. Although the average temperature is 18℃, temperatures can reach over 30°C and days are generally hot with clear skies, little rain and warm and pleasant evenings. It’s a great time to visit the best beaches, such as Clifton and Camps Bay, before the peak holiday season starts in December and there are also other interesting events going on at this tome. The Summer Sunset Concerts series at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens features musical performances on an open-air stage, and the Wavescape Surf & Ocean festival takes place at various venues around the city. This festival focuses on ocean-conscious events such as beach cleanups, art exhibitions and informational courses, as well as local and international movie screenings.
