Changi Airport has just opened the doors of its Fit&Fun Zone, a wellness space that blends fitness with entertainment. According to the airport, the space is designed to combat travel fatigue and revitalise passengers for the next leg of their journey.
The initiative is part of Changi Airport’s ongoing efforts to enhance the passenger experience, providing travellers with an engaging and interactive way to relax, recharge, and stay active while in transit.
A multibillion-dollar investment in passenger experience
At the end of 2024, the Changi Airport Group (CAG) announced a S$3 billion investment to upgrade key airport infrastructure. This modernisation effort aims to improve baggage handling, check-in processes, immigration clearance, and other essential services that are reaching their operational limits. Additionally, the investment is focused on enhancing Skytrain connections between terminals, making passenger transfers more seamless.
As part of this extensive upgrade, the Fit&Fun Zone was introduced, spanning 400 square metres and designed as a free, accessible space for travellers of all ages. The wellness area is located in Terminal 2 (Transit), Level 3, just above Dreamscape, Changi’s immersive indoor garden that merges nature with digital technology.
A fitness and entertainment hub for all ages
Designed to be engaging at any time of day, the Fit&Fun Zone encourages passengers to stay active while waiting for their flights. Changi Airport suggests that travellers arrive early before their departure to enjoy the amenities. The zone is divided into five colour-coded sections, each offering a unique experience that balances relaxation with movement.
Exploring the five colour zones
1. Green Zone – Relaxation and Serenity
For those seeking calm and tranquillity, the Green Zone offers six pendulum chairs, suspended above the Dreamscape garden. These chairs provide a peaceful retreat, allowing passengers to unwind in mid-air while taking in the garden’s scenic beauty.

2. Pink Zone – Strength and Endurance
This area is designed to test passengers’ strength. It features four pull-down levers connected to weights ranging from two to eight kilograms. A light ball system linked to the weights adds a visual aspect to the challenge, making strength training both interactive and engaging.

3. Yellow Zone – High-Energy Cardio
For those looking for a fun cardio workout, the Yellow Zone offers five trampoline pods. Travellers can jump, dance, and bounce while enjoying an accompanying music experience, helping them shake off fatigue and re-energise for their next journey.

4. Orange Zone – Stress Relief and Boxing Fun
In this section, passengers can release pent-up energy by using Spar Pods, which are soft punching bags suspended by thin ropes. Surrounding 3D petal structures on the walls can also be jabbed and punched, providing another playful yet effective way to destress before a long-haul flight.

5. Blue Zone – Agility and Mental Focus
The final section features a nature-inspired rope maze, where travellers are challenged to navigate through the obstacles without touching the ropes. This activity not only promotes physical movement but also enhances concentration and problem-solving skills.

An innovative approach to airport wellness
Changi Airport’s commitment to enhancing passenger experience is further exemplified by its $3 billion investment plan, announced in late 2024. This six-year initiative aims to upgrade critical infrastructure, including baggage handling systems, check-in processes, and immigration services, many of which are approaching the end of their operational lifespan. Additionally, the plan focuses on improving Skytrain connections between terminals, facilitating smoother and more efficient transfers for passengers.
Furthermore, Changi Airport is also progressing with the development of Terminal 5, a project designed to boost the airport’s capacity significantly. Scheduled for completion in the mid-2030s, Terminal 5 is expected to handle an additional 50 million passengers annually, bringing Changi’s total capacity to approximately 140 million passengers per year. This expansion will not only accommodate increased passenger traffic but also enhance Changi’s connectivity from 150 to 200 cities worldwide.Â
