A new theme park is set to open in Glendale, Arizona in 2024, and it’s going to be a dream come true for Barbie fans. The first-ever Mattel Adventure Park will celebrate the toymaker’s most popular brands, including Barbie, Hot Wheels, and He-Man.
We have spared no expense to bring these iconic brands to life in ways that will delight visitors of all ages for years to come.
Mark Cornell, President of Epic Resort Destinations
The Barbie-themed area of the park is sure to fill up the measures for “Barbiecore” enthusiasts. The iconic doll’s candy-colored spirit will come to life at the Park’s Barbie Beach House. A must visit for the park attendees, it will feature attractions such as the Dream Closet Experience, where visitors can use state-of-the-art hologram technology to curate their ultimate wardrobe with the help of Barbie herself. There will also be a Barbie Flying Theatre, where guests can experience some of the many destinations that Barbie has visited throughout her career, including outer space and underwater environments.
“The expansion of this flagship attraction brings together the largest representation of Mattel’s beloved brands in a live space as never before”, said Julie Freeland, Senior Director at Mattel’s Global Location Based Entertainment department. In addition to the Barbie attractions, the action-packed park will allow visitors to relieve beloved childhood favorites, featuring a Hot Wheels-themed double-looping rollercoaster and go-karting experience, a Thomas and Friends indoor theme park and a 418+ square meters laser tag arena based on Masters of the Universe’s Castle Grayskull, that will invite guests to join an epic battle to regain the power of the Universe.
Popular family games like Pictionary and UNO will also be brought to life through giant life-sized and climbing-play structures. An immersive environment of the Mattel Games portfolio will also be presented in the format of a nine-hole mini golf experience.
The Mattel Adventure Park is being developed within a partnership between Mattel and EPIC Resort Destinations. Located a short 20-minute drive from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, the $1 billion, 60-acre theme park will be the larger VAI Resort and the largest resort in Arizona. It will include more than 1,100 hotel rooms, 12 restaurants, a $40 million concert venue, and the largest of man-made beach party islands in the United States.
