Passengers aboard the Princess Cruises’ Regal Princess have set a new Guinness World Records title for the most margaritas sold in eight hours, the cruise line announced, marking a boozy milestone tied to National Margarita Day celebrations.
On 17 February, while the Regal Princess was in Cozumel, Mexico, during a seven-day Western Caribbean voyage that departed from Galveston, Texas, guests purchased a total of 3,410 margaritas across bars and lounges on board. That figure significantly surpassed the previous record of 2,728, according to Princess Cruises’ press release.
The record attempt was part of a broader National Margarita Day celebration that transformed the ship into what the cruise line described as a “floating fiesta.” The margaritas sold were the company’s signature 24K Margaritas, handcrafted with Pantalones Organic Blanco Tequila along with Cointreau, Grand Marnier and margarita mix, served over ice in glasses with salted rims.
“You could feel the celebration in every bar of Regal Princess as Princess Cruises made history with a new Guinness World Records™ title for Most Margaritas Sold in 8 Hours,” said Thomas Bradford, official adjudicator from Guinness World Records.
The achievement also coincided with another milestone for Princess Cruises. Between 1 January 2025 and 7 January 2026, more than 1 million 24K Margaritas were sold throughout the fleet, making the cocktail one of the most popular specialty drinks at sea.

The Regal Princess, a ship with a capacity for about 3,560 guests, was estimated to have sold nearly one margarita per passenger during the record-breaking period. “Celebrating one million 24K Margaritas and making history with a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title on National Margarita Day, captures the incredible spirit and enthusiasm our guests brought to create this unforgettable moment at sea – and now, they’ll forever be part of this unforgettable chapter in Princess history,” said Sami Kohen, Princess Cruises Vice President of Food and Beverage.
Pantalones Organic Tequila, available in Blanco, Reposado and Añejo expressions, is now served at bars across the Princess fleet and included in the line’s Princess Premier and Princess Plus beverage packages. Beyond the signature 24K Margarita, the brand anchors a selection of handcrafted cocktails developed with Princess mixologist Rob Floyd, including the Pants on Fire, Sea Legs, Hot Pants and Fancy Pants Paloma, each featuring fresh juices and premium ingredients.
The milestone follows the recent christening of the company’s newest ship, Star Princess, where actors Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves, the Pantalones brand’s founders, served as godparents and ceremonially blessed the vessel with a bottle of Pantalones Organic Tequila, wishing it good fortune on future voyages.
The record attempt was officially conducted under Guinness World Records guidelines and adjudicated on site to ensure compliance with all conditions required for verification, the line said. After securing the Guinness World Record title, Regal Princess returned to its home port on Sunday, 22 February, coinciding with National Margarita Day.
