The 35th edition of the BTL – Better Tourism Lisbon Travel Market concluded on 16 March 2025, setting a new attendance record with 82,000 visitors. This milestone highlights the growing importance of the event and reflects the strong momentum of Portugal’s tourism sector.
Held at the Feira Internacional de Lisboa (FIL) in Parque das Nações, BTL 2025 brought together over 1,500 exhibitors across a 50,000-square-metre space. The fair featured more than 600 activities, including conferences, networking events, and cultural showcases, attracting both industry professionals and travel enthusiasts.
A cornerstone for Portugal’s tourism sector
BTL is Portugal’s largest and most influential tourism trade fair, playing a crucial role in connecting businesses, destinations, and professionals in the travel sector. With exhibitors from various tourism-related industries—including airlines, hotels, travel agencies, and tour operators—the event serves as a platform for business networking and trend forecasting.
A highlight of BTL 2025 was the hosted buyers programme, developed in collaboration with TAP Air Portugal and Turismo de Portugal. This initiative facilitated over 3,800 business meetings, bringing together more than 200 buyers from 42 countries and over 500 participating companies.
Portugal’s tourism boom continues
Portugal’s tourism industry has experienced a remarkable surge in recent years, positioning the country as one of the top travel destinations in the world. It has consistently received international recognition for its cultural heritage, natural beauty, and world-class hospitality sector.
According to industry reports, international arrivals have seen significant growth, particularly from key markets such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany. The sector remains a pillar of the Portuguese economy, contributing substantially to GDP and employment.
Looking forward to BTL 2026
Following the success of BTL 2025, organisers have already announced the dates for the next edition. BTL 2026 will take place from 25 February to 1 March, aiming to build on this year’s achievements by offering new business opportunities, industry insights, and enhanced international participation.
Event coordinator Dália Palma expressed optimism about the future, stating: “It was extremely gratifying to realise that once again BTL fulfilled its mission, generating new business opportunities, strengthening strategic partnerships, and inspiring thousands of visitors in choosing their next destinations.”
