The LEGO Company has introduced its latest building set, the LEGO Icons Shuttle Carrier Aircraft. This 2,417-piece model pays tribute to a significant moment in aviation and space exploration history. It accurately depicts NASA’s modified Boeing 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft and the Space Shuttle Enterprise, as seen during their 1983 appearance at the Paris Air Show.

Designed with adult LEGO enthusiasts, the set offers a challenging yet satisfying experience. The Boeing 747 model features deployable 18-wheel landing gear and an accurate shuttle mounting system. The Space Shuttle Enterprise, designed to fly on top of the aircraft, includes an attachable tail cone, removable engines, and landing gear that can be stowed in its cargo bay. A display stand with informational plaques showing the Shuttle Carrier Aircraft’s extensive history completes the set design.

The Shuttle Carrier Aircraft was at the core of NASA’s space shuttle program from 1974 to 2011. It played a crucial role in transporting space shuttles from landing sites to the Kennedy Space Center for nearly 40 years. The new LEGO set tries to pay homage to that legacy, allowing customers to recreate an important moment in aerospace history, making it not just a toy but a whole piece of storytelling.
The LEGO Icons Shuttle Carrier Aircraft set will be available to LEGO Insiders loyalty club members on 15 May 2025, and then to the rest of the public on May 18, 2025. The €229.99 set can be purchased from the LEGO website and official LEGO stores.

With its blend of engineering prowess and artistic attention to detail, this set will be a memorable item for aviation fans and collectors, serving as an excellent shelf display piece and a testament to the great accomplishments that were made through the collaboration of aviation and space exploration.
