Everyone has their own criteria when it comes to choosing a holiday destination. Where you end up going has a lot to do with your taste and your interests, yet also with more practical stuff like how much time you’ve got and the budget you’ve got in mind for your trip. A city trip may be quicker and perfect for culture lovers and night owls, yet they often cost more. And while an all-in holiday may be convenient, it’s not the way to go if you like to move around and explore the surroundings. To everyone their own, right?
Since social media have started to conquer the world, yet another form of travel has seen the light of day. Because when you want to photograph or film everything while you’re travelling, looks are quite important. From your hotel room to the cutlery at the restaurant you’re dining at to the tiles around the pool: it all has a role to play in your online image. The more something’s visually attractive, the better it’ll probably score online. As a human species we tend to be obsessed by beauty (or blatant ugliness) so esthetics are definitely of great importance if you want to go viral or get noticed.
Yet then comes the question: which cities are actually the most popular ones online? Which are the ones to get the most views, to interest the most people, to make sure your profile stands out from the crowds – or blends in best, depending on your point of view? Luggage storage company Bounce clearly was as curious as we are and therefore dived deep into the numbers. They analyzed the number of video views per city for 140 cities around the world on TikTok and came up with an interesting top ten.
According to Bounce, Dubai is by far the most popular destination on the social media platform. New York and London score great as well although their numbers get nowhere near the Dubai ones. Also, if you’re not keen on crowds, you might actually want to avoid these cities, especially during high season!
These are TikTok’s 10 most popular destinations.
