London’s renowned Natural History Museum is offering an extraordinary opportunity for both kids and adults to have a sleepover surrounded by the awe-inspiring presence of dinosaurs. The Dino Snores events promise an unforgettable night filled with exploration, entertainment and a dash of prehistoric magic.
For aspiring paleontologists, the “Dino Snores for Kids” provides an enchanting adventure for children aged 7 to 11. Torchlight adventures, a dinosaur t-shirt workshop and an educational science show set the stage for a thrilling night, with set up camp in one of the galleries of the museum. The following morning offers young guests the unique opportunity to enjoy a trail around the museum’s iconic galleries before the public arrives.
VIP (Very Important Palaeontologist) tickets for the youngsters bring an extra layer of excitement with the Camp Stegosaurus experience. This includes a camp bed in a special area around Sophie the Stegosaurus, a free gift on arrival, a pre-packed snack lunch box for the evening snack break, a cooked breakfast and an engaging animal handling show in the morning.
The adult sessions, aptly named “Dino Snores for Grown-Ups“, defy the misconception that sleepovers are exclusively for children. Setting up camp beneath the iconic blue whale skeleton in Hintze Hall, guests are treated to an evening of diverse activities, kicking off with a three-course dinner. Included in the adult sessions is free access to selected galleries, a live animal workshop, courtesy of ZooLab, an opportunity to test your knowledge in a pub quiz, a stand-up comedy show and a science show. A monster movie marathon and a showing of an episode of the Apple Original series, “Prehistoric Planet”, will cap off the night.
As the clock ticks towards midnight, bars will be serving drinks and bites until 00:45, with complimentary tea and coffee available between 21:00-02:30 and 7:00-9:30. As morning arrives, a homemade cooked breakfast awaits, complemented by an optional yoga session to start the day refreshed.
For an elevated experience, VIP tickets for grown-ups provide access to a camp bed in the upper balconies of Hintze Hall, a goodie bag, fast-track entry and priority booking for tours.
Ticket prices vary, Dino Snores for Grown-Ups costing £220 (€253) for regular entry and £280 (€321) for VIP, while Dino Snores for Kids comes at £75 (€86) for regular entry and £125 (€143) for VIP.
Grown-up sleepovers are sold out until March, but the museum organises a dinosaur all-nighter once every one to two months, some places still being available in April and July. The children events are more frequent, thought upcoming ones are also sold out. The next available places are in March and April.
