Holiday footage posted online can be a source of envy when it depicts yoga poses on stunning shorelines, accompanied by the phrase How’s your Monday morning going? But one holidaymaker’s experience has gone viral for all the wrong reasons, after footage of her stuck inelegantly inside a water chute was shared online.
The unidentified passenger aboard a Norwegian Cruise Line vessel is shown lying on her back after coming to a halt inside a water slide tube that is overhanging the starboard flank of the ship by 3.3 metres, and is positioned around 48 metres above sea level. In the 13-second clip, which was posted to TikTok by @kaylamierzejewski, the woman attempts to shuffle herself along using her hands and feet against the inside of the tube.
The video of the woman’s misfortune is set to Jess Glynne’s upbeat 2015 song “Hold My Hand” along with a presumably sarcastic commentary saying: “Nothing beats a Jet 2 Holiday.” A witness can be heard saying, “Oh my God, she’s literally stuck,” but their tone appears more amused than concerned.

Commenters on the video, which has been shared by 81,000 people, found the incident less funny. “I’m panicking HOW DID SHE GET OUT?” one demanded. Another remarked, “This is a huge phobia for me. Like… What if they dont [sic] know I’m stuck and keep sending people down and we all suffocate.” Some viewers compared the woman, who was wearing a black swimsuit, to an upside-down insect, while others questioned why she did not simply turn over to crawl her way out.
Later, the original poster stated that the woman had escaped without harm and was “perfectly fine.” Norwegian Cruise Line – whose ships Bliss, Encore, and Joy all boast similar water chutes known as “Ocean Loops” – told USA Today that the attraction “features an escape hatch for guests to exit safely when they cannot complete the experience.” The company offered no further comment.

Water slides on cruise ships had more bad press earlier in 2025. A guest sailing on Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas in August suffered injuries due to an acrylic panel breaking away from the side of the chute as he made his descent. Footage again shared online shows a sharp-edged hole in the side of the tube, with water gushing out. People can be heard screaming and crying, as warnings are shouted out to prevent anyone else from attempting to enjoy the slide.
