How and where we work has changed a lot over the years. A few decades ago, each and every one of us who had a job used to go into work every day. That’s just how things worked and no one asked any questions. And then, somewhere along the road, freelancing became more wide-spread. Many people started to work from their own offices and, as things evolved, small companies started to pop up. But where do you go if you haven’t got the means to rent your own office yet you don’t want to work from home day in, day out?
Enter: the co-working space. With an infinite amount of different formulas, ranging from very cheap to a little more expensive, and from small to being able to house a little team, they’re the perfect solution for many a freelancer or small businesses. You’re flexible, you don’t have to work from home all day and you get to meet new, interesting people.
Even though co-working spaces took a hit during the pandemic – suddenly, working from home seemed like the responsible thing to do – they’re now more popular than ever. A lot of businesses, even the larger ones, gave up their offices and are now opting for more flexible solutions. Co-working spaces are no longer just for the independent workers, they’re now also frequented by people who want to escape their new working-from-home environment for a day or so.
Work-life balance
Even though we often imagine co-working spaces to be indoors, that doesn’t have to be the case. Especially during summertime, it can be nice to mix things up and get a bit of much-needed fresh air. This summer, you could get exactly what you’re looking for at Terrasse O². This bar slash restaurant in Uccle has been around for almost twenty summers but now, they’re working together with Silversquare to create Belgium’s biggest outdoor co-working space.
Every day until 21 July, the 2500 square metres-big space opens its doors to the public. During daytime (starting from noon), it’s the perfect place to work on all your projects while enjoying the more than beautiful surroundings. If you’re in need of a break, you can participate in one of the many activities organised on-site, like the yoga classes. You can enjoy a drink, a bite, everything you like. At night, it becomes the place to be when it comes to after work parties. We’ve never heard of a better combination of work and fun.
