In a few hours, 2020 will finally come to an end. Although the pandemic doesn’t allow us to throw wild parties, we can still dress up, eat something nice, open a bottle of champagne and turn on our best speakers. There are plenty of online New Year’s Eve events that we can enjoy directly from our home. Here are our top 5!
1. Tomorrowland
The Belgian popular festival Tomorrowland will host an online event this New Year’s Eve, featuring performances by 25 Electronic Dance Music, house and trap DJs across four digital stages in the brand-new digital entertainment venue NAOZ. The most famous names include David Guetta, Major Lazer, Martin Garrix, Armin van Buuren and DJ Snoopadelic. The ticket price is €20. You can participate from anywhere in the world, no matter your time zone. Tomorrowland 31/12/2020 is adapted to all 27 time zones! You can watch the event in your local time from 8PM to 3AM. 2. The Times Square Ball Drop
The Times Square Ball Drop is New York’s major NYE event, which attracts millions of people each year. But this year, the Times Square Ball Drop will feel quite different as no one will be allowed to be there physically. However, we’ll still be able to soak the Big Apple vibes by following in streaming a series of live performances from the square. The celebration will start with the lighting and raising of the hallowed ball and at midnight, Gloria Gaynor will sing “I Will Survive.”
3. Hello 2021 YouTube Show
This year, YouTube is hosting its own online show called “Hello 2021” show with different line-ups across the UK, Americas, Korea, Japan and India. Dua Lipa will play for the UK, India and Americas streams. In the Americas, participants will also be able to watch performances from J Balvin, YG and Kane Brown. There will be also some contributions from RuPaul and Matthew McConaughey. British viewers will enjoy performances from Aitch & AJ Tracey, Anne-Marie and MNEK, as well as sketches from Michaela Coel and Katherine Ryan. The UK stream starts at 10.30pm GMT, while the Americas stream begins at 10.30pm EDT.
4. Edinburgh’s Hogmanay
Edinburgh’s Hogmanay is worldwide known as one of the leading new year celebrations. And even this year, the event organizers want to keep this good reputation. This is why Edinburgh’s Hogmanay will happen anyway, despite the pandemic. But, for the first time in its history, the event will be moved entirely online with a series of spectacular shows never seen before to be watched from home. The event, which is produced by Underbelly on behalf of the City of Edinburgh Council, will run from the 28th to the 1st of January. The online event is be free and streamed via the official website.
5. Snoop Dogg’s Virtual New Year’s Eve
Even Snoop Dogg will host a live virtual celebration. The author will be joined by Bert Kreischer, Rosario Dawson, Jennifer Nettles and Cody Rhodes: all from the upcoming Go-Big Show, which will debut on Jan. 7 on the American tv channel TBS. There will be also some surprise guests! Virtual participants will also have the opportunity to tour Snoop’s Compound including his basketball court, recording studio, casino and arcade room.
