Your flight has been delayed by two hours? Are you waiting for your next flight connection? Or did you simply show up too early at the airport? In any case, check out this five airport gyms to stretch out your muscles before embarking your plane!
1. Hamad International Airport, Doha
The Vitality Wellbeing & Fitness Centre of Hamad International Airport is equipped with everything you need to relax yourself and keep your body in motion before the flight. If you do not want to miss your sport session, train your muscles in the fully equipped gym or practice some cardio in the squash court. And after training why not relaxing in the 25-meter indoor swimming pool or in the hydrotherapy tub? The spa offers also treatments specifically designed for the needs of travelers, such as anti-jet leg massages and rejuvenating facials.
Of course, the wellness center has also a shower room with many amenities, including towels, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and slippers. In the vanity area right next to the showers you will find additional amenities such as dental kit, shaving kit, deodorant, and hair dryer.
The Vitality Wellbeing & Fitness Centre is open 24/7 and is located at the terminal South Node, on the fourth floor, above Oryx Airport Hotel.
2. Pearson International Airport, Toronto
Passengers travelling through Toronto International Airport can have a workout as soon as they land thanks to the in-airport GoodLife Fitness gym.
The gym has plenty of options to help you stay in shape and good health, such as a large selection of strength training and cardio equipment (e.g. treadmills, elliptical machines, stair-steppers, stationary bikes, full circuit resistance training), a free weight area, a large mat area for stretching and performing body weight exercises with stability balls of various weights and sizes. There are even personal viewing monitors to help you perform the exercises correctly.
The amenities include luggage storage/lockers, towels, showers, and clothing for rent (T-shirt, shorts, socks and footwear).
The GoodLife Fitness gym is located in terminal 1, arrivals level, gate F.
3. Zurich International Airport, Zurich
Airport Fitness & Wellness Center welcomes its fit guests with a life-sized airplane nose at the entrance.
If you want to escape far away from the stress and noise of the airport, there is no better place to be. The Airport Fitness & Wellness Center offers both a well-equipped spacious gym and an elegant wellness zone spanning 2,000 m² with an impressive design. There is a wide range of options, including an Oriental steam bath (approx. 45 degrees C), a mixed sauna (85 degrees, 10% humidity), a ladies’ sauna (80 degrees C, 10% humidity) and a men’s sauna (90 degrees C, 10% humidity).
The entire center has a special relaxing atmosphere, with subtle lighting and modern design elements.
The fitness center is located directly in the terminal building and it is open 365 days a year.
4. Baltimore-Washington International Airport, Baltimore
The Roam Fitness center is just the perfect place for a quick workout while waiting for your plane, or between flights.
The gym is equipped with everything you need for a cardio training, resistance training, or weightlifting. There is Technogym cardio equipment, including treadmills, an elliptical, a SkillMill, a recumbent bike, and a spin bike. Almost all cardio machines have tablets with streaming services and virtual courses. There are also free weights (up to 50 pounds), resistance bands, medicine balls, bosus, and stability props.
For your resistance training, you will find plenty of tools, such as TRX System, plyo boxes, and yoga props.
After the training session, take a shower in one of the four private bathrooms, each of them equipped with a toilet, a sink, and shower. Towel service, as well as shampoo and body wash are included.
Near the shower rooms there is a common vanity area. Here you will find a large mirror, hair dryers, styling products, and toiletries.
If you do not have your own sport clothes, you can rent lululemon apparel for both men and women and Brooks running shoes.
5. Chicago O’Hare International Airport, Chicago
If you are striving for some body exercises before embarking your flight, go to the Hilton Athletic Club at O’Hare International Airport. There, you can train in a great weight room where you will find Reebok elliptical trainer, Tectrix steppers, LifeCycles bikes and other machines.
After your workout, spoil yourself with a massage or enjoy the wellness facilities including a steam room, a sauna, and a lap pool. The Athletic Club offers a full-service locker rooms where you can leave your luggage and sport clothing rental.
Non-hotel guests can purchase a day pass to the fitness center for $20.
The gym is located inside the Hilton Chicago O’Hare Airport Hotel, across from the domestic terminals (1, 2 and 3). The hotel is accessible by underground walkways connecting to each of the domestic terminals or from the International Terminal 5 via the Airport Transit System.
If you are a yogi person, O’Hare Airport also has a yoga room located in terminal 3. The area has a sustainable bamboo wood floor, mirrors on one wall, exercise mats, soothing music, and a video monitor demonstrating yoga poses. There is also an area to place personal articles and garments.
