Even though most museums ask their visitors to dress decently and thus keep their clothes on, every now and then, there’s an exception to that rule. Not so long ago the Museum of Archeology of Catalonia welcomed the Catalan Naturism Club for a special visit and now the La Boverie Museum in the Belgian city of Liège is organising a similar experience.
Since October, La Boverie has been showing the ‘Les Mondes de Paul Delvaux’ to its visitors. The exhibition features 150 masterpieces by the Belgian artist Paul Delvaux (1897-1994) and will be on display until 16 March. Now, naturists and other curious-minded culture enthusiasts are also expected at the museum for a unique visit to Delvaux’s masterworks.
“In a respectful and inclusive setting, participants can discover Delvaux’s emblematic paintings while themselves being in harmony with the central theme of the exhibition: nudity,” a spokesperson of the museum told the Belgian news agency Belga. “This unusual initiative proposes to transcend the barriers between the viewer and the art, offering an extraordinary sensory and emotional experience.”
As a homage to Delvaux, who is, amongst other things, known for his nude depictions, the museum is organising a special event on 28 February in collaboration with the Belgian Naturist Federation and the association Eve et Adam simplement nus (Eve and Adam simply naked). Enthusiasts will get the chance to view the exhibition during a special, naturist evening visit.
“Long-time naturists, novices and the simply curious are all welcome to join us for this unusual experience”, the museum states on its website. “This naturist tour will take place in a secure environment, strictly supervised by professionals to ensure a caring, non-judgmental atmosphere. Every precaution will be taken to respect the dignity and serenity of participants.”
The naturist evening will start at 7 pm and will only be accessible for adults. Tickets cost 19.50 euros and visitors are asked to make a reservation through the museum’s website. Normal tickets can also be bought there.
