Airbnb has unveiled a significant redesign of its app, broadening its scope far beyond private home rentals. The update introduces new Airbnb Services, building on the existing Airbnb Experiences. Moreover, users will be able to access these features without booking a stay through the platform.
Airbnb Services
“With the launch of services and experiences, we’re changing travel again. Now you can Airbnb more than an Airbnb,” said Brian Chesky, Airbnb co-founder and CEO. Currently, this feature covers 10 categories in 260 cities. The categories of offerings include catering, massages, personal chefs, makeup, hair, nails, personal trainers, photography, prepared meals, and spa treatments.
Hosts offering services typically have around 10 years of experience. Moreover, they have already passed Airbnb’s identity verification and must provide their necessary licenses and certifications. The company said in a press release that services are available at almost all prices, with many of them including an entry fee below $50 (€44,65).
“People choose hotels for their services. People choose Airbnbs for the space,” added Chesky. “Now, we’re giving you the best of both worlds—amazing homes with services that make them even more special.”

Airbnb Experiences
The company’s revamped platform now also features an improved “Experiences” tab that enables users to book customized tours and activities, a feature that initially debuted in 2016. Airbnb has also confirmed that this offering will be available in over 650 cities worldwide, with additional locations to follow. Now the experience tab offers tours, classes, workshops, landmark visits, workouts, wellness, and beauty experiences. Similarly, to “Services”, “Experience” hosts will also be vetted for quality, being assessed for their experience, connection to the city, and guest feedback.
What’s more, Airbnb is launching “Airbnb Originals”, hosted by standout personalities. To further improve guests’ experience, the new revamped app will also add social features, letting users connect with fellow guests before, during, or after every event.
“Today’s travel activities offer no real connection to the city you’re visiting,” said Chesky. “The most authentic way to explore a city is with the locals who know it best. With Airbnb Experiences, don’t just see a place—experience it.”

A new, transformed platform
The new app would serve users beyond booking, offering integrated access to all services and experiences. The overhauled app will include a personal itinerary for every trip, suggesting activities and experiences based on your stay and company.
“Seventeen years ago, we changed the way people travel. More than two billion guests later, Airbnb is synonymous with a place to stay,” shared Chesky.
