1. Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy
While 2025 seems to be all about thrillers and horror movies, fans of the romcom genre will be glad to hear about a new Bridget Jones release. Renée Zellweger will once again be starring in Helen Fielding’s novel adaptation, this time juggling as a widow and single mother. While Bridget discovers the joys of dating apps and lives all kind of love shenanigans, spectators are treated to a delightful bit of careless screen time. Given the release date it might just be the perfect watch for a Valentine’s date or a Galentine’s night.

2. Frankenstein
Mary Shelly’s book, although published in 1818, is still a classic piece of literature these days and one that many of us have read already. The story has inspired multiple adaptations over the years and in 2025, director Guillermo del Toro will be presenting his version to the public – a project he first spoke about in 2007. Whether or not the movie will become as classic as the original remains to be seen.

3. Die, My Love
Based on a 2017 novel by Ariana Harwicz telling the story of a new mother living in the French countryside and struggling with post-partum depression leading to psychosis, this adaptation by director Lynne Ramsay promises to keep you on your toes. Even though initially scheduled for an earlier release, Hollywood strikes postponed the filming process thus pushing the project to 2025.

4. The Running Man
Stephen King might well be the king of all thrillers and 2025 will see the release of yet another adaptation of one of his books – The Running Man. In this dystopian movie directed by Edgar Wright, a TV show’s contestants are chased by killers in order to win money. The beauty of releasing the film this year is without a doubt the fact that Stephen King originally wrote the dystopian thriller to take place in 2025, or about 40 years into the future. While a first book-to-movie adaptation already appaerard in 1987, Wright promises to stay closer to the original storyline.

5. The Housemaid
The book by Freida McFadden only just came out in 2022 and the bestseller is already being turned into a movie. As Millie becomes a housemaid for the Winchesters, she soon understands something is wrong with the house. A psychological thriller lovers of the genre will undoubtedly devour and, if you can’t wait, author McFadden has already published a couple of sequels.
