The Eiffel Tower locally nicknamed “La dame de fer” (English for “Iron Lady”), was constructed between 1887 and 1889 as the entrance to the 1889 World’s Fair. The tower is 324 meters high and has three levels for visitors, with restaurants on the first and second levels. The top level’s upper platform is 276 m above the ground. The curvature of the uprights is mathematically determined to offer the most efficient wind resistance possible.
This tower is, perhaps, the most popular tourist attraction in the world! Some people say that you have not visited Europe if you have not gone to see the Eiffel Tower.
