The thriving market for cruises is about to see bookings open for a round-the-world voyage like no other. Regent Seven Seas Cruises has announced a 71-destination global itinerary for 2027 aboard one of its largest liners, the Seven Seas Splendor.
Your own spa and Picasso on the wall
There’s plenty of room on the 55, 489-tonne, 735-foot ship, which can welcome 746 guests. The only trick is affording the ticket. Prices start at $92,500 per person and go up to an eye-watering $1.7 million ($839,999 per guest).
For that top price tag, your accommodation would be the Regent Suite, a 4,443-square-foot (412-square-metre) two-bedroomed apartment with its own steam room and spa, a mattress worth $200,000, a dedicated butler – and a Picasso on the wall. When you tire of all that, you can gaze out at your 14th deck views or entertain your significant other by playing your grand piano.
Specialist guides and luxury dining
Of course, the price doesn’t only cover the accommodation over the 140-night sailing. First and business class flights associated with the cruise are covered too. Specialist guides at your destinations are included and when it comes to dining, one of the ship’s five restaurants might trouble your waistline with lobster tempura, steak tartare with caviar, and ravioli with a Parmesan and truffle sauce.
To keep their operations going in fact, the chefs will take delivery of 13,000 pounds of lobster, 14,000 pounds of filet mignon, 3,600 pounds of smoked salmon, 150 pounds pounds of caviar and 14,000 bottles of champagne to cater the 2027 world cruise.
Unprecedented interest
The Splendor will take four and a half months to cover 35,668 nautical miles and visit six continents, heading out from Miami, Florida in 2027. It will first head for South and Central America, passing through the Panama Canal, before reaching Los Angeles, where it will sail for Australia and South East Asia, stopping in Hawaii and French Polynesia on the way. After visiting Indonesia and Thailand, the Middle East and Europe, the liner will make a triumphant transatlantic return via Bermuda to New York.
Pre-reservations are already open and bookings can be made from 10 April 2024. With post-Covid revenge travel and “once in a lifetime” experiences still very much trending, and having had no trouble selling out previous cruises on smaller liners “in record time”, Regent Seven Seas Cruises president, Andrea DeMarco, has said the company is anticipating “unprecedented interest” in the “World of Splendor” voyage.
