Turismo de Portugal, Portugal’s national tourism authority, has launched an initiative to support tourism in the country: it is a specialized COVID-19 travel insurance scheme that will cover foreign tourists while visiting the country.
The goal of the initiative is to increase trust and confidence in people, to reassure everyone who visits Portugal that they can travel “all around the country with confidence.”
Potential visitors can acquire the Portugal Travel Insurance, a policy managed by and promoted by RNA Seguros de Assistência. All details related to the policy are available online, where it can be purchased.

Coverage extends to the entire national territory. Among other things, it includes: medical, surgical, pharmaceutical, and hospital expenses associated with Covid-19, as well as cancellation, interruption, or extension expenses, also due to the pandemic.
Turismo de Portugal is very active in boosting recovery and is releasing the information on this new initiative in international markets. They wish to strengthen the public’s perception of security in Portugal, which comes in addition to the Safe Travels Stamp received in early June of this year.
There is also the Portugal Health Passport, which provides a package of healthcare services for tourists as part of a special offer developed with and promoted by Turismo de Portugal.
Tourists can sign up for the Health Passport, which offers the opportunity to get a COVID-19 test and have access to high-quality care in the hospitals and clinics of the largest private health providers in Portugal – CUF, Hospital da Luz, HPA Saúde, and Lusíadas.
Portugal continues to consolidate its position as a safe destination. It wishes to guarantee all the essential sanitary conditions for the peace of mind of its visitors. Many countries that rely heavily on tourism have shown interest in deploying similar kinds of initiatives.
