Footballer Cristiano Ronaldo and his girlfriend Georgina Rodríguez have purchased a €25 million piece of land in Dubai. The plot is located on Jumeirah Bay Island, also known as billionaire island.
The purchase of the couple doesn’t come as a surprise, as Cristiano Ronaldo is currently playing for the Saudi Arabian Pro-League team Al-Nassr on the world’s most lucrative contract in football. They’ve been living in Saudi Arabia for over a year and seem to cement their move to the region with the splurge in Dubai, located only a two-hour flight away from Riyadh, home-base of Al-Nassr. The property will be added to Ronaldo’s already impressing list of real estate in Madrid, Marbella, Madeira, New York, Lisbon and Turin.
Jumeirah Bay is an artificially-built seahorse-shaped island developed by the government of the United Arab Emirates. It is conceived as an exclusive space for the wealthy upper-class, located around 8 kilometres from Dubai’s city centre and connected to the mainland by a 300-metre long bridge. Aside from residential real estate, the island also offers a wide range of amenities such as restaurants, gyms, a yacht club, a beach club and luxury hotels.
The real estate project of the Ronaldo family is being managed by Palace Luxury Living, a real estate group in the United Arab Emirates. So far, 15 other mansions have been built on the island, some of the couple’s future neighbours including Teddy Sagi and the daughter of the former Angolan president, José Eduardo Santos. As the world’s highest-paid athlete according to Forbes, Ronaldo will fit right in on “billionaire island”.
Ronaldo’s mansion is scheduled to be fully built and ready by December 2024, allowing him, his girlfriend Georgina Rodríguez and their five children to move by the end of the year. No details have been revealed yet about the design of the villa nor the budget.
