Fastfood chain Burger King is offering customers in the US the chance to put together their very own Whopper and, by doing so, enter a contest to win a $1 million prize. Currently, there are more than 200,000 Whopper combinations possible and, according to Burger King, more than half of its customers already customise their Whopper by adding extra toppers or leaving some out. So the chain is now looking to draw inspiration from the imagination of its customers for a new recipe to add to its permanent menu.
“Calling all flame-grilled fanatics, culinary creators, and A.I. aficionados – Burger King, the home of the flame-grilled Whopper sandwich, has a million-dollar question for you: how would you top your Whopper? The flame-grilled Whopper currently offers more than 200,000 possible customised combinations, but if you’ve ever wanted to top the flavourful burger with savoury sensations or sweet and sour showstoppers, then your moment to shine has officially arrived”, the fastfood chain wrote in a press release.
Even though no topping is off-limits, people joining the competition can add a maximum of eight toppings to their ultimate burger. To be able to participate, they will have to create a Royal Perks account and the deadline for the contest is set on 17 March. After submitting their combination, contestants for the Million Dollar Whopper will get a little preview of their creation.
“With to the power of artificial intelligence (A.I.), they will receive a preview A.I. version of their flame-grilled creation, to which they can then add a personalised A.I. generated jingle and a thematic background. The final image or video can then be shared across their social media platforms”, Burger King said.
Once the competition is closed, a Burger King jury will pick out three finalists who will then be invited to Burger King’s headquarters in Miami. Their burgers will be fine-tuned and then added to the Burger King menu in the United States. Of course, there can only be one winner so once the burgers are available for the public to test, customers will be able to pick their favourite. The burger with the most votes will be crowned the Million Dollar Whopper and its creator will receive the $1 million prize.
