Brussels Airport and Interparking, the company that manages its carparks as well as several other carparks around the city, have announced that an additional 700 parking spaces are being fitted with EV charging stations.
“At Interparking, we are committed to contributing to a greener mobility. The addition of these charging points at Brussels Airport is just a fraction of our ambitious project: to extensively roll out electric charging stations in Belgium and in the 8 other European countries we serve”, said Roland Cracco, CEO of Interparking.
Overall, the number of electric cars is growing, so the need for charging points increases as well. Providing the necessary infrastructure for our passengers and staff is therefore a priority.
Arnaud Feist, CEO of Brussels Airport
Interparking offers more than 13,000 parking spaces at Brussels Airport. Until recently, EV drivers have only had access to 50 specially equipped parking spaces on site. Given the growing use of electric cars, 500 new charging stations for passengers have been installed in P1 and P3, conveniently located in front of the airport terminal, while 200 new charging stations have been added to the P1 parking area especially for staff, bringing the total number of parking spaces equipped with charging capabilities to 750.
The 700 new charging stations will be gradually activated from the beginning of March. The Interparking team is currently finalizing the wiring and technical installation to ensure a smooth and secure user experience.
The car parks are equipped with the latest generation charging stations allowing passengers to let their cars recharge while they are on holiday, as the stations charged slowly, making them optimal for long-term parking. There are no additional fees for parking at these charging stations even after the charging process is complete.
The power stations can be used with any charging card and these parking spaces are available on a first come, first served basis. If activated by Pcard+ from Interparking, no activation costs will be applied.
