Airbnb has looked in the mirror and found the fashion equivalent of itself to partner with, as it seeks to tap into the UK wedding travel market.
£150 for fashion plus £100 off accommodation
The accommodation rental site is offering selected customers who have been invited to a wedding abroad this year money off both their wedding outfit and future holiday stays. The wedding outfit offer comes with a difference though, and one designed to appeal to the more eco-conscious dresser. £150 credit is on offer to spend at “By Rotation”, a fashion platform that specialises in renting, rather than purchasing outfits, as well as £100 in Airbnb credit.
“Partnering with By Rotation couldn’t have ‘married’ up more perfectly, as their fashion expertise enables wedding guests to hire their dream outfit in a more sustainable and cost-friendly way,” she added. “This, combined with Airbnb’s range of unforgettable stays all over the globe, where you can have the place totally to yourself, helps make the wedding guest experience all the more easy, and affordable too,” Amanda Cupples, general manager for the UK and Northern Europe at Airbnb, explains.
53% of wedding guests struggle with costs
New Airbnb research reveals a third of Brits are set to attend three or more weddings this year, but with average guest costs of £661 per wedding, 53% of guests say they struggle with affording so many events while hiding financial worries from the happy couple. The latest promotion claims to take away some of that stress.
The cost of renting something to wear on By Rotation, which like Airbnb allows peer-to-peer rentals, goes from a minimum of £2 to a maximum of £1380 per day, with most requiring at least a two-day rental period. A limited number of outfits are also available to buy. Brands vary from unknown quantities to High Street names and designer labels such as Chanel and Alexander Macqueen.
Simply book in a top 10 destination to apply
To apply to take advantage of the offer, would-be fashionista renters need to book any Airbnb in one of the top 10 most common wedding guest locations for British nuptials before 31 December 2024. These are the UK, Ireland, Spain, Italy, France, North America, Scotland, Greece, and the Caribbean. The accommodation booking should be made via a dedicated page on the Airbnb website where applicants can fill in the details needed to have the chance to win their free By Rotation rental as well as their Airbnb coupon. The campaign is only available in the UK.
While waiting to find out if they’ve been successful, applicants are invited to browse the AirbnbEdit on the By Rotation app and website. The website has curated a selection of potential wedding outfits to inspire you. But a word of caution before you spend out: credit is limited and Airbnb says it “will evaluate applications and identify the most deserving candidates to receive.”
