We all have heard about Vienna’s terrorist attack that severly hit the city early this week. In this article, I would like to pay tribute to the wonderful Austrian capital and its citizens.
Vienna is a truly wonderful city. It has so many things to offers from its history, architecture, and food. I went to Vienna a couple of years ago before all the problems related to the pandemic, and I was impressed by how big and wonderful the city is. Vienna is the 6th-largest city in the European Union.
Vienna is also known to be the “City of Classical Music.” Centuries after master composers such as Mozart and Strauss played in the city, Vienna still lives up to its reputation as the capital of classical music, with opera houses and concert halls with glorious performances. Surprisingly, most of the highly esteemed musical characters Vienna is associated with didn’t originate from the city. They were attracted by the capital of the great empire because of the Habsburg dynasty’s sponsorship.
Do you know that Vienna is also called the “City of Dreams”? Why? Because this is the city of the world’s first psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud.
If you visit this city you will certainly not be bored because there are lots of things to do. St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Belvedere, Karlskirche, Hundertwasserhaus, Vienna’s City Hall (Rathaus), The Vienna State Opera, The Schönbrunn palace, and much more. My favorite place is the “Naschmarkt”, the famous market in Vienna where you can find lots of things to eat and drink, including restaurants that served food and dishes from many countries. You can certainly find something that you like.
We cannot speak about Vienna without having a little thought about… Hmm I am sure you know it! About Sissi of course. She was Empress of Austria and Queen of Hungary by marriage to Emperor Franz Joseph I. She rests in the Imperial crypt in Vienna.
Vienna is really beautiful during the day, but also during the night with all its warm lights and good vibes, that’s why Vienna is also one of the world’s most liveable cities. I took some pictures during the night, make nice dreams.
