We asked her if it bothered her and she said no, she was used to it — not a problem,” Patrick Lanzino, manager of the Colletti bar in Palermo, one of the couple’s culinary stops in the city, told The Times.

While enjoying their time off, the couple apparently fell in love with Sicily and decided to organise their wedding in Palermo.

“This marriage will be a message to Palermo that people love the city’s beauty, despite its problems in the past. Something stayed with this couple after their visit, which is why they are coming back,” Lanzino commented.

Rumours about the celebrity wedding took off when the Italian newspaper Giornale di Sicilia wrote  about a wedding planner being hard at work to organise a weekend of celebrations from 5 to 7 September 2026. Yet another Italians news outlet, La Repubblica, promptly named it “the wedding of the year” and despite a lack of comment by the couple, they even got a honeymoon invite from Luca Beraldo, the mayor of Celleno, a medieval village in Lazio.

Since those first reports, people have been busy speculating about the potential details of the wedding. Allegedly, the couple has hired wedding planner Alessandra Grillo to organise the event, while the famous Art Nouveau hotel Villa Igiea would act as the duo’s headquarters. The 19^th-century palazzo features lavish interiors, sea views, and a range of on-site eating options.

The British Home Office has denied rapper Ye, also known as Kanye West, the right to enter the United Kingdom. During an interview with the BBC on 7 April 2026, it became clear that Ye had made an application on 6 April to travel to the UK via an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) and that that demand had been refused. The Home Office defended its decision on the grounds that “his presence would not be conducive to the public good”.

The reason why Ye was applying for an ETA was London’s Wireless Festival, scheduled to take place in July 2026. The rapper was booked as the headliner for all three days of the event, and the organisers thus decided on Tuesday, 7 April, to cancel the festival following the government’s decision.

If the intent was to reassure, the reaction suggests otherwise. Comments on and offline, across Instagram and TikTok and in the press in general, have been overwhelmingly negative, criticising both the lyrics and the premise.

So, what do AI systems make of an AI performer singing in its own defence?

ChatGPT was among the most direct, describing it as “less a song than a prototype of AI trying to justify itself through art.” It was deemed “weak” and “generic” musically, but “sharp” and “extremely important” as a cultural object. Grok was even blunter, calling it a “pro-AI anthem” with a “cringe” execution, and comparing the lyrics to “a corporate manifesto rather than art.” “I wouldn’t add it to any playlists unless your vibe is defensive AI propaganda pop,” it concluded.

Perplexity described it as a “gimmicky” yet effective demonstration of human-guided AI. It noted that lyrics such as “AI’s not the enemy, it’s the key” portray AI as an amplifier of human creativity rather than a replacement, although the “on-the-nose lyrics and uncanny elements spark valid debate on authenticity.”

Gemini took a more analytical stance, pointing out the irony of an AI performer claiming a “human spark.” It described the track as a “bold experiment in synthetic stardom” but argued that the backlash shows that audiences are not ready to replace human artists with prompt-based performers. It rated the lyrics 2/10.

Claude viewed the video as “a genuinely interesting cultural moment,” describing it as AI reflecting on its own existence and asking for acceptance. “Whether it lands artistically is another matter entirely,” it said, adding that “AI characters in entertainment are legitimate and worth debating, even if this particular video didn’t make the strongest case.”

However, we may just be at the beginning of it all, as Tilly herself puts it:

Paris is inviting its citizens to bid for a macabre prize – a burial spot in one of the French capital’s iconic and historic graveyards. “Lucky” participants in the lottery could even find themselves the proud owners of a final resting place within shouting distance of one of the world’s great and good, like Wilde himself.

The “Sauver un monument funéraire” (Save a funeral monument) scheme has been dreamt up as a way to compromise between the preservation of the city’s funeral heritage and the desire of Parisians to be laid to rest in the city they call home.

The most central, historic, and beloved cemeteries in Paris, such as Père-Lachaise, Montmartre, and Montparnasse, have been full since the early 20^th century. Many of them contain the graves of famous people, from 1960s music legend Jim Morrison to great writers such as Oscar Wilde and Samuel Beckett, or France’s very own little sparrow, la môme Edith Piaf. Under normal circumstances, it is almost impossible for ordinary Parisians to get their hands on a plot nearby. Meanwhile, parts of the cemeteries are falling into disrepair.

But Paris City Hall, recognising these issues, has identified 30 funeral monuments, ten in each of the three iconic graveyards, in a “simple, classic style, essentially tombs, some with headstone” that it is putting up for sale. Under the trial approach, members of the public, as long as they live in Paris, can apply to purchase the lease or buy one of them outright, but they must undertake to restore it in a way that is faithful to the original within six months. To avoid any nasty surprises, candidates must also show they have consulted stonemasons and are aware of the costs of lease and repair involved.

Even Prime Minister Christopher Luxon weighed in, declaring that there would be ‘no better place in the world’ for the wedding or honeymoon. He pointed to natural wonders such as Aoraki/Mount Cook and the Waitomo glowworm caves, as well as adventure hotspots like Queenstown. With a nod to Kelce’s sporting life, Luxon added that the groom might also enjoy a taste of New Zealand rugby.

Rugby players are known to tease American footballers for wearing layers of ‘armour’, whereas they pride themselves on playing with little more than a mouthguard. New Zealand’s national team, the All Blacks, are currently ranked among the world’s top three and is legendary not only for their dominance on the pitch, but also for the awe- and fear-inspiring haka they perform before every game.

Not everyone was convinced, though. One commenter on the official post remarked, “I can’t imagine being so famous that an entire country invites you over just because you got engaged. Just remember… they’re just people. They’re people like all the rest of us. I’d love to see you offer this to a normal couple who got engaged!”

Yet behind the playfulness lies serious business. Swift’s global impact on tourism is already proven. Her Eras Tour has generated billions of dollars in revenue worldwide, boosting hotels, restaurants, and even the aviation industry. In Europe, airlines have added flights to meet demand from Swifties, and US economists have coined the term ‘Swiftonomics’ to describe her economic ripple effect.

A wedding, or even a honeymoon, in New Zealand would be an invaluable marketing coup. Swift’s engagement post received over 1.5 million likes in under 10 minutes, and news of the Tourism New Zealand petition dominated global headlines. The earned media value alone is something that most destinations could only dream of.

New Zealand is not the only destination to have extended an invitation: New York City’s Department of Parks and Recreation cheekily posted on X, quoting Swift’s own lyrics: “Are you suddenly looking for a place to get married? Welcome to New York, it’s been waiting for you”.

Swift and Kelce began dating in 2023, and the pop icon has frequently been spotted at Kansas City Chiefs games, even appearing on Kelce’s podcast with his brother to promote her latest album. Wherever the couple chooses to wed, one thing is certain: the location will attract as much attention as the wedding dress.

The Hilton ad featuring Padukone was part of the larger ‘It Matters Where You Stay’ campaign. The movie was directed by Anurag Baruah and co-created with the help of TBWA\Singapore, TBWA\New York, Equinox Films, and Dentsu. 

When the video was launched in India, it was shared both on Hilton’s Instagram page and on Deepika Padukone’s profile using the platform’s collaboration feature, allowing the audiences of both to watch and share the advertorial. This resulted in 1.9 billion Instagram Reels views and 5 billion views across all social platforms. 

“This milestone is more than just a breakthrough moment —it’s a testament to how Hilton is using The Stay to move beyond traditional ad campaigns to create cultural moments for the next generation of travellers”, said Mark Weinstein, chief marketing officer and head of luxury brands, Hilton.

Meaningful moments in the spotlight

Contrary to some modern-day ads, the Hilton campaign with Padukone isn’t using any particular special effect or other impressive feats. Instead, it focuses on the hospitality brand’s ‘For The Stay’ platform, highlighting the small and meaningful moments that a guest can experience during their hotel stay. Things such as a handwritten note, a well-fitting pillow, and a welcoming lobby are, according to Hilton, essential parts of a successful hotel stay.

Deepika’s voice and story is one that resonates with a generation that is redefining what it means to travel on your own terms – in India and around the world – and we are so proud to partner with her to elevate the role the Hilton stay plays in powering her journey with relevance, heart and purpose”, Mark Weinstein continued. 

At the moment, Hilton is increasingly expanding its presence in India and the Asia-Pacific region. The record-breaking ad is building on an earlier, 10-minute TikTok clip called ‘The Ad You Stay In’ released in 2023 and is clearly appealing to a new generation of (Indian) travellers, redefining hospitality marketing by concentrating on the experience and by joining forces with local, culturally-rooted ambassadors.
