We especially love the months of April and May in Europe because of the coming of spring. During this period we see the blooming of beautiful flowers everywhere; in gardens, parks, forests, woods, everywhere! It’s like they all wake up after a long sleep over the cold winter. There are so many different flowers, from tulips to sakura, lavender to sunflowers and many more. After the brown and white of nature during the colder months, it’s finally time for some colour! Here are some of the most beautiful flower fields around the world. Enjoy!
1. Sunflower Fields, Italy
As well as the famous vineyards of Tuscany, the Italian region is also interesting to visit in spring or summer for its flowers. You can find amazing blooming landscapes, the highlight being the golden fields of sunflowers. Definitely an extra special backdrop for your photos!
2. Agassiz Tulip Festival, Canada
You mustn’t miss the beautiful fields of tulip blooms in British Colombia, Canada, filled with more than 30 varieties of tulips. What make this place even more unique is that you can see incredible Mount Cheam in the background, often capped with snow!
3. Keukenhof Gardens, Netherlands
Tulips are a specialty of Holland and you can find plenty of variety in Keukenhof Gardens, one of the most famous tulip gardens in the world. Situated in the municipality of Lisse, this garden covers an area of 32 hectares and approximately 7 million flower bulbs are planted each year. It is a quiet place to walk and see huge array of colors. Beside the Koeknhoft you can also visit the field in Lisse, or Haarlem and Leiden, you can visit the fields from March till the end of August.
4. Hitachi Seaside Park, Japan
Hitachi Seaside Park is one of the most beautiful Parks in Asia. Located in Hitachinaka City, the Park covers an area of 190 hectares and the flowers in this place bloom almost all year round. Spring sees over 5 million blue nemophila flowers bloom as well as with tulips, then baby blue-eyes, roses and zinnias cover the park in summer, and Kochia and cosmos in autumn. Whatever the period of the year you go there, you will always be able to take gorgeous pictures in this park.
5. Lavender Fields, France
There are many lavender fields around the world but the most famous ones are of course in the Provence region of France. The area even has a Museum of Lavender! The flowers bloom from mid-June to mid-July. Can you imagine being in the middle of this field of purple surrounded by the lovely scent of lavender?
6. Canola Flower Fields, China
From February until March you can see an amazing “Golden Sea” of canola or rapeseed flowers in Luoping, China. This is definitely the most beautiful Canola field in the world, with the mountains in the background contrasting with the bright yellow color of the flowers.
7. Fuji Shibazakura Festival, Japan
Japan is known for its beautiful sakura blooms in spring but there is another kind of flower that blooms during this time which is just as impressive, shibazakura or pink moss/phlox moss in English. Fuji Shibazakura Festival is one of the country’s best and most popular occasions to see the flowers, and with Mount Fuji set against the hot pink blooming fields it’s certainly a spectacular view.
8. Sunflower Fields, Spain
If Tuscany doesn’t quite satisfy your appetite for sunflowers, another place to appreciated them is Bureba in Spain. The best time to visit the fields is in August and it is well worth it to see them blooming in the hot Spanish sun!
9. Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm, USA
Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm is a great place to enjoy the variety of tulips in the USA. Although located in Oregon, this place is sure to remind you of the tulip fields in the Netherlands. The farm has more than 50 acres of different varieties of the flower.
10. Hallerbos, Belgium
Not far from Belgium’s capital city of Brussels, you can visit the Hallerbos, a forest covering an area of 1,360 acres. Each spring the forest floor transforms into a blue carpet thanks to the thousands of bluebells that blooms throughout. Set against the lush green of the beech trees, it is a truly remarkable sight.
