I traveled several times to Italy but I have never been to Sicily before. Italy, in the south of Europe, is known for its beautiful landscapes, cities, beaches, and certainly the food, especially pizza and pasta. People there are warm and so friendly.
Recently, before the COVID-19 pandemic, I spent 3 days in Sicily… Really not enough to explore everything! I went to Taormina, Isola Bella, Fontane Bianche beach, Ortigia in Siracusa, Catania, and also to the Mount Etna.
The first place I visited was Taormina. This is a commune (municipality) in the Metropolitan City of Messina, on the East coast of the island. Taormina has been a tourist destination since the 19th century known for its nature and landscape.
There are so many things to do and visit in this city. Some top attractions in Taormina are: Teatro Antico di Taormina, Isola Bella, Corso Umberto, Villa Communale di Taormina, Piazza IX Aprile, Porta Messina and many more.
During the summer there are so many tourists from all around the world, but it is still possible to enjoy visiting the city. What I like most about Taormina is the view of the Isola Bella with the blue sky and the blue water, it looks fantastic and it reminds me of Bali. From this place, you can see Mount Etna.
I will come back to another article again to explore more other places in Taormina, but for an appetizer, here are some pictures from my first trip to Taormina.
