]]> As part of the launch of their new “Welcome to vaCay” platform, the Cayman Islands are looking for a so-called Chief Relaxation Officer. The lucky chosen one will be spending two weeks between Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac in the Caribbean.

While some vacations are all about the activities, the adventure, and the day trips, every now and again, it is nice to completely relax during a holiday, doing nothing at all. And according to the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism, that’s exactly what spending a holiday at Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac, or Little Cayman should be all about.

“We’ve all mastered the art of being busy. It’s time to master the art of slowing down. Here in the Cayman Islands, slowing down isn’t an indulgence; it’s a part of our culture. This promotion is our way of bringing that antidote to travellers who need it most. And yes, if you’re the type who shows up to vacation with a colour-coded itinerary, this assignment was made for you”, said Rosa Harris, the director of tourism for the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism.

To highlight the relaxation potential of the Cayman Islands, the tourism board is currently looking for a Chief Relaxation Officer, who will be able to enjoy a 14-day all-expenses-paid holiday in the Caribbean. As befits a true job offer, the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism has provided a complete description of the job and a list of benefits.

The job description:

  • Sleep at least eight hours a night (naps encouraged). 
  • Spend daily time by the water – floating, reading, or doing nothing at all. 
  • Enjoy fresh local dishes like coconut ceviche. 
  • Sip island cocktails at iconic beachfront spots. 
  • Dine with locals to learn their relaxation rituals. 
  • Explore nature and meet rare island species like the Blue Iguana or Cayman Parrot. 
  • End each day with a tech-free sunset on the beach.

The benefits package:

  • Round-trip coach-class airfare to Grand Cayman.
  • Round-trip inter-island airfare from Grand Cayman to Cayman Brac.
  • 14 nights in beautiful accommodations.
  • Daily stipend for meals and (entirely optional) island experiences.
  • On-island transportation.

In order to apply for the toll, travellers are asked to share their worst vacation story with the tourism board before 17 February 2026. Only residents of the United States aged 21 and older with a valid passport can apply. Once the applications are closed, the Caymans’ Board of Relaxation will review the submissions and choose a winner.
